Evening Primrose Oil contains an important fatty acid called Gamma Linolenic Acid (GLA) which is needed by the body for the manufacture of certain hormone-like substances called Prostaglandins. These substances have beneficial regulatory effects on the immune system, circulation and the menstrual cycle. Their purpose is to help control and regulate cell growth and to maintain hormonal balance. GLA also helps maintain a healthy skin. It is often taken by women to be of help before the onset of periods.  

Evening Primrose Oil is obtained from the seeds of the Evening Primrose plant, a wild plant from North America, that bears no relation to our native wild primrose.
